REVISED COVID 19 RISK ASSESSMENT – AUGUST 2021 ( amended 09/21)

1. Background

Covid 19 is an illness that can affect your lungs and airways and is caused by a form of coronavirus.

Symptoms can be mild, moderate, severe or fatal.

Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring specialist treatment. However, older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness

2. Purpose

• This Risk Assessment and Control Measures have been prepared principally in relation to the Town Council’s arrangements for convening Council and Committee meetings but also applies to the Council’s employees. It is designed to eliminate or at least minimise, so far as is reasonably practicable, the hazard – that is, the potential spread of Covid 19 when individuals visit Ty’r Dref to attend a meeting.
• The general features and guidance within this Risk Assessment will also be applied for the health and safety of Council officers based at the office and who have to deal with visitors; they will apply to those visitors and to others such as contractors attending to carry out work at Ty’r Dref.

3. Who might be affected and harmed if measures are not in place?

a.    Town Councillors
b.    members of the public
c.    representatives of the press and media
d.    Invited speakers / contributors
e.    Council employees
f.     Contractors, service engineers and suppliers attending at Ty’r Dref
g.    Security officers attending to replenish the Barclays ATM

4. Publicising This Risk Assessment and Associated Control Arrangements

This document will be published on the Town Council’s website at - www.cyngorllanrwst.cymru

For the guidance of members of the public, press and media, reference to this Risk Assessment and associated documentation will be included on the foot of published meeting agenda.

Contractors etc., will be directed to the Council’s website for access to this Risk Assessment document

5. Duration and Review

The guidance and measures contained in this Risk Assessment will remain in place for the foreseeable future and will not be withdrawn until such times as the Town Clerk, as the Council’s Officer with prime responsibilities for Health and Safety at Work provisions, assesses that it is appropriate to withdraw them.

This document will be kept under on-going review and, as necessary, revision in the light of developments in the control and / or elimination of Covid 19 or revised regulations, advice and guidance issued by the Welsh Government, NHS Wales or the Health and Safety Executive.
